Every Baby Boomer, every owner of a Long Term Care insurance policy and anyone who either is or knows someone devoting their time, money and emotional strength to a family member suffering late-in-life chronic or terminal illness will want to read this book and absorb its wise counsel.

Gail Sheehy is a writer and journalist on life's challenges. She has authored several books in the Passages series. Most recently, Passages in Caregiving, Turning Chaos into Confidence has been recommended by Bill Moyers and Roslynn Carter.  In this edition of our News page we are sharing some of the interesting information from this book.

The importance of Gail's topic and its wide significance have been recognized by AARP, who appointed her as their 2009 Ambassador for Caregiving, and by the Society of Actuaries, who invited her to be the keynote speaker at the 2010 Intercompany Long Term Care Insurance conference.

The attached video messages come from Gail's YouTube site. The first tells us about her unexpected introduction to a new life devoted to caregiving for her husband Clay Felker. The second, draws an analogy between caregiving and exploring a labyrinth. The third, New Normal, describes the abrupt transition to which a caregiver must adapt. The fourth interviews a son who switched roles with his mother, becoming her caregiver.
